Christmas in July Merry Mice

The mice in the Merry Mice stamp set are just adorable!  Perfect for one of my favorite techniques, masking! First I stamped the three little mice image and used markers and my blender pen to color them up.  Then I stamped the mice again on plain white paper and fussy cut each one out, dabbed a little snail on the back and pressed over the corresponding mouse in the card front.  I stamped my Trees (from Totally Trees) on top and spritzed some going grey re-inker mixed with water over it all.  Not thrilled with the big spots, and I think if I do the card again I will test the sprayer out first until I get a more consistent SMALL dot coverage! After I peeled the masks off, Voila! The mice look like they are marching in front of a forest, or even carrying the trees along with them.   The sentiment also comes with the Merry Mice stamp set.

What would you do for a background for these little merry mice?

Christmas in July Totally Trees

Christmas in July Totally Trees

One more “Christmas in July” card, this one with the “Totally Trees” stamp set which has awesome images of trees for all seasons!  I particularly like this fir tree image because it is so simple and graphic.    I stamped the tree image 4 times with versamark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  There is also a “precipitation” stamp in the set, which I interpreted as snow, adding white pen dots inside the images (they are little circles, actually), but I suppose you could call them rain drops too.  The sentiment comes from “Merry Mice” stamp set and the ribbon is the new “Finely Woven Ribbon” in Tranquil Tide.

What would your favorite holiday tree stamp be for Christmas in July?

#TBT (Throw Back Thursday)

I LOVE Facebook, but every once in a while some of the abbreviations really “throw” me, as this one did, for MONTHS, until finally I saw the actual full title!  Now the back story is that I have, literally, HUNDREDS of vintage Stampin’ Up stamp sets.  When I started this wild ride (i.e. obsession -uh huh, I admit it!), I was consumed by all the stamps in the older catalogs that I DID NOT HAVE, and lo and behold, they were available on EBAY!  Since then I have SO MANY STAMP SETS I could not even go through them all if I stamped cards EVERY DAY!  (and I do try!).  So I have decided that these stamps will find NEW homes!  Some may go back to EBAY, but some I really like will be featured on THROW BACK THURSDAY!  Today I’ve created a card using two vintage stamp sets with current Stampin’ Up products:  “Measure of a Life” (2006) and “Mixed Greetings” (2005).  Here’s the card:Dragonfly #TBT

…and here are the two stamp sets:

WHEW, I’m Here!

Well, in spite of myself, I am up and running.  This site might change over the course of the month, but I must start somewhere!  The good news is that my studio revamp is nearly done and I am preparing for my first in-house WORKSHOP!  woowoo!

Here are some previews of the “organized” areas –

Yes, folks, this last pic is my WALL O’ STAMPS!

When I discovered Stampin Up I went WILD over the gazillion images available – thanks mostly to EBAY.  I have managed to get that bad habit down to a squeak now, and as you can see by my clear-mount storage, I have converted because it saves SO MUCH SPACE!  I can envision a time when I will release a great number of these stamps back to EBAY-Land and some lucky newbie stamper with the stampin-craze can win them back.  But.not.just.yet. <sigh>

More pics to be revealed over the next few days, and then the project reveal for my first workshop in Studio Stampalooza coming right up – Sunday, January 29th!

Until then….Keep Calm and Find Yourself a Rubber Stamp!
