So Very Thankful!

Today I am VSo Very ThankfulERY thankful!   I just received my Stampin’ Up! order and APPARENTLY I had ordered both of these stamp sets!  At first I thought, Well THAT’S a LOT of Thank Yous!, but then, really, I am Thankful for so many things – and I should send Thank You cards more often!  (just like birthday cards!!!)  I’ve always liked having LOTS of fonts at my disposal, and there are so many lovely ones with these stamps!  I know I’ll be embossing the BIG Thank You in GOLD and spritzing or stenciling a pretty background.  What can YOU create with these sentiments…and what are you So Very Thankful for???

Sheltering Tree Spring Card

IMG_2377I was so inspired by a photo this week of the trees in bloom, that I created a Sheltering Tree Spring card!  By inking the “leaves” stamp with Versamark and heat embossing with white embossing powder, I created a “resist” that I could spritz several blue inks over and wipe off the embossed portion so that the inks show up as a background.  This makes a simple one-layer card with a 3-D look!  A little sparkly ribbon (Pool Party 3/8″ Glitter Ribbon 140561 10 yds/$5.50-Occasions Catalog) to finish it off!  Lots of options with this stamp set for EVERY season!  Visit my online store by March 31st to take advantage of Sale-a-bration – earn a free stamp set, paper or embellishment for every $50 in orders.  Make your own set of Sheltering Tree Spring Cards to send or give as a gift!

Rose Wonder Sympathy

Rose Wonder SympathyRose Wonder stamp set, a new stamp in the Occasions Catalog, is a beautiful, BIG image that lends itself to so many inking possibilities!  For this card, I used my copic markers, which I love for their ability to blend.  There are soooo many colors (and I am a color FREAK!) It’s hard to believe how many markers I used for the rose and leaves!  I stamped the image again on a sheet of copy paper and fussy cut around it to create a mask, then covered the whole thing with a mesh bag from some oranges and sponged with Lost Lagoon.  I spritzed with some gold smooch spritz and splattered some Night of Navy, removed the mask and popped the Sympathy sentiment from the same stamp set.  The huge number of sentiments that come with this stamp set are perfect for so many occasions!  You have until May 31st to order this stamp set (which also has matching dies), but only until March 31st to order and get FREE merchandise from the Sale-a-bration catalog!  No time to lose – You will LOVE the Rose Wonder stamp set all year long!

#imbringingbirthdaysback

One of my fave’s from Stampin’ Up!, Shannon West, has come up with a brilliant idea, called #imbringingbirthdaysback!  The premise is that we have gotten away from sending birthday cards and become more dependent on the quick and easy social media way.  Now who doesn’t LOVE a birthday card (or any card, really) that you receive in the mail???  I used to send a ton of them out, and I have gotten out of the habit, too!  Stampin’ Up! thought this was SUCH a good idea that they are now going to issue a stamp EXACTLY as Shannon made her own above.  As soon as it is available, I’ll post a link, but no need to wait to jump onto this great idea – start your own revolution!  If you want a great stamp set with birthday sentiments and images, too, “Endless Birthday Wishes” would be a great start!  If you want a hand-stamped birthday card from ME, just comment with your request, and message me privately with your name, birthday and address, and VOILA! your card will hit the US Mail when the time comes!  #imbringingbirthdaysback – how about you???

Day 2 Coloring Challenge

image …we’ll this is MY day 2 Coloring Challenge as I probably will not make 30 separate posts over the challenge! At any rate, I did color in the flowers a bit this morning – using my Stampin’ Up! Stamp pads, a bit of water and a very small paint brush.  I like to layer and combine colors, so these flowers were done with FIVE different colors!

#TBT On Gossamer Wings

TBT Time again! This time from my “vault” of vintage Stampin’ Up! stamp sets, “On Gossamer Wings” consists of a sweet floral, several lovely butterflies, a dragonfly, and a quote from Charles Dickens.  Other than the banner, which is gold embossed on vellum, the images are all on one layer on my favorite shimmer paper, so there is a subtle glimmer when you move the card in the light.  So pretty!  If you would like this vintage stamp set, message me and we will work out a deal (and you get the card too!)

#TBT Measure of a Life

imageI’m revisiting one of my fav vintage stamp sets, “Measure of a Life”.  I love the images from this set and the sentiment, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.  Eleanor Roosevelt”.  I embossed on vellum and inked both the front and the back.  Ink doesn’t dry as fast on the vellum and you can swirl it about with your paintbrush on one side and the inking on the other side stays where you put it!  The only downside is that the water curls up the edges, so you have to weigh it down under several books while it dries to get it flat again.  I’m “on the fence” with the ribbon – what do you think?image

Good things are going to happen!

My stamp of the month – “You’ve Got This”.  I think this is my favorite example so far!  A little fiddly with fussy cutting around the flower, but this is stamped on blackberry bliss card stock with versamark and embossed with clear.  Then brush on BLEACH inside the flower lines.  The paper bleaches to a light buff color which I then re-colored with blackberry bliss ink that was diluted with water for the flower and mossy meadow for the stem and leaves, also diluted.  So pretty IRL.  Shop for this stamp and supplies at www.mystampalooza.stampinup.net or message me to place an order for you!  Subscribe to my monthly newsletter for next month’s stamp of the month – card sketches, tips and techniques!Good things are going to happen card

For All Things Stamp Set

I love the stamp set “For All Things” (#135155 Clearmount $18) It is simple and watercolor-y and mostly, not just for Fall!  This card uses my Technique Quickie for the month – inking up your acrylic blocks for a quick background!  I’ve also used the new cotton paper for the banner.  It is sooooo thin!  If I hadn’t pleated the strip, the floral sprig would have shown through.  It was a bit tricky to stamp on – the Stazon in would have dried a little quicker then the Memento Black that I used.    I’ve got card sketches, techniques and featured stamps every month on The Stampin’ Nooz.  If you didn’t get your copy this month, sign up in the box to the right and you’ll be in the que for the July tips & techniques!

A Pack of Cards with COLOR!

I am constantly drawn by COLOR!  That is probably why I immediately found a happy place with Stampin’ Up!  All the colors MATCH, whether it is ribbon, card stock, ink or embellishments!  Card-making is a snap once you have decided on a design, as in this group of cards.  Changing the color of the cardstock, ribbon and changing up or even keeping the same sentiment is the fast track to a quick hostess gift or adding to your card stash.  For the details of this card, sign up for my monthly stamping how-to, Stampin’ Nooz!
