Pantone Spring 2020

Pantone just released their Spring 2020 Color Palette – the Sea!  While it makes sense for planning…WAIT.  WHAT???? We’re in 2020 already??? <sigh>

It is beautiful…and I’m a water girl at heart!  Here’s their description:

“From inky blues and bio-luminous neons, to summer browns and seaweed greens, colors for Spring/Summer 2020 display depth and complexity. Reflecting tribal like behavior, each palette seems to live in a sea of its own, not necessarily related to the world around it. Color harmonies and cross-fertilization step forward to display harder color contrasts: turquoise with a lagoon grey or a bright orange with taupe. Mirroring the mood of Spring Summer 2020, we offer a variety of options so you can explore all color depths from cool blue watery shades to the red-hot thermal bed of underwater volcanos.”

Stampin’ up retires 5 colors each year and adds 5 new ones, so we will have some new colors by then, but the 2018 colors will not retire until June 2020, so we sill still have these to play with:

and I think Call Me Clover and Blueberry Bushel will fit right in, not to mention the other 7 Blues and 6 Greens in our regular color collection.  Hey!  What about the Pineapple Punch too!

Can YOU think that far ahead?  My mind is already aswirl with The Sea colors~

Pantone Spring and Summer 2018

Check out how close the Pantone 2018 Spring and Summer colors match the Stampin’ Up!’ new color collection!  I think this is pretty awesome!  If I wanted to get a few of them closer, I could easily mix some re-inkers together with a paint brush and either watercolor my card or brush the color on the stamp!

Are you getting excited yet about the new color collection?  Only a month (and a few days) to go!!!

New Colors – Returning Colors – Retiring Colors…

New Catalog time is approaching on June 1st, and every 5 years or so Stampin’ Up! does a color REFRESH – and this is the year!  We have 6 Colors that were available for only 2 years retiring (Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugar Plum), and 6 NEW colors for the next 2 years, 2018-2020.  13 colors are retiring from the 48 standard color collection (Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip, Elegant Eggplant, Island Indigo, Marina Mist, Perfect Plum, Pink Pirouette, Rose Red, Soft Sky, Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise, Wild Wasabi, Wisteria Wonder).  So goodbye to the old and HELLO! to the new:

And last but not least WELCOME BACK to returning colors from prior years!: I’m so glad that Flirty Flamingo is coming back to the new catalog!  Love that color!  The entire new color collection is really awesome!  There are also 3 neutrals, Whisper White, Very Vanilla and Basic Black.  There is a new ink pad style as well which is supposed to make them easier to use.  Finally, there are new Stampin’ Blend alcohol ink markers too that reflect the new color stamp pads.  All in all, exciting times coming with the new catalog!

Do you love having new colors to stamp with too?  I’ll be sharing images and cards in May in anticipation of the June 1st release of the new catalog, colors and products!

You are my Anchor Card

I was so inspired by the My Paper Pumpkin kit for

Alternative April 2018 Paper Pumpkin Card

this month that I had to make an A2 card using some of the parts from the kit!  Talk about FAST!  I do keep a supply of 5.5 x 4.25 shimmery white card fronts, so I trimmed one of the 3×3 cards (unfolded), snailed it to the card front, attached the lighthouse and the gold-rimmed circle and tiny gold heart (cutouts from the kit – the lighthouse is popped out with dimensionals), I stamped “ahoy” and “you’re a lifesaver”, and a lighthouse stamped inside the card with the Island Indigo.  The card base is a coordinating blue, lost lagoon (retired last year) VOILA! instant thank you card!

Speaking of retired products, Stampin up! has released the retiring products list,  everything but stamp sets are only available until sold out, stamp sets are available through May 31st.  The six 2015-2017 colors are retiring as well as 12 colors from the regular color list!  6 in-colors are coming back from prior years and we will have 6 BRAND NEW colors in the 4 color groups – so there are EXCITING color times ahead (new catalog release is June 1st!!!)  Stay tuned for some pre-release specials next month!  To order from the Retiring List, click on the “order online” button above!

And don’t forget the 50% off My Paper Pumpkin discount through May 10th, SAVEFIFTY0418, to make your own “You are my Anchor” cards and gift cards!!!

You Are My Anchor

Have you tried My Paper Pumpkin yet?  This month’s kit is just adorable!  24 3″x3″ gift cards with matching envelopes, stamp set, embellishments and island indigo stampin’ spot.

April Paper Pumpkin $19.95 + shipping

These would be great for graduation gifts, travel or moving gifts, anniversaries, even baby boy shower gifts!

AND you can easily work these 3×3’s into regular card size by either  attaching the full card to a 5.5×4.25 piece of cardstock and embellishing the background with the stamps from the stamp set included in the box, or cutting the 3×3 card in half and attaching it to the front of an A2 card.  So many possibilities!

All you need with this Paper Pumpkin is the acrylic block if you have not bought Paper Pumpkin before.  You have until April 20th to subscribe to receive the April Box.  If you sign up after that, you will receive the May box.  For new Subscribers, there is a special promotion until May 10th, 50% off for two months of My Paper Pumpkin – new subscribers will also receive an acrylic block with their first order!  Use code SAVEFIFTY0418 at checkout – Click on the SHOP ONLINE heart at the top of the page to order “You are my Anchor” or future My Paper Pumpkin monthly paper crafting kits!

Brusho!

. Brusho Item# 144101 $30

What’s new in the Occasions Catalog? Brusho!!! Five fascinating colors and new ways to liven up your cards and projects!   I cut a piece of watercolor paper and spritzed with water.  Brusho is a fine powder, so the safest way to use it without spilling it over EVERYWHERE is to poke a small hole in the top and shake it over the spritzed watercolor paper.  The color crystals will spread and create unique patterns which you can swirl by moving the paper and allowing the water to carry the colors in one direction then another.  I sprinkled green and blue brusho on the paper and swirled a bit of it and let some sprinkled areas stay that way.  After drying I had THIS result.

I stamped the butterfly from the Beautiful Day stamp set in VersaMark ink and embossed with Black Embossing Powder over top of the background.   I added some Dark and Light Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends Markers and Dark and

Beautiful Day Item#145912 $29.00

Light Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends to the inside of the butterfly wings, then fussy cut the butterfly and added it to the front of the card with dimensionals.  I love the look of this butterfly!  It really looks like the wings are transparent and 3D!

Order YOUR set of Brusho Crystal Colours and the Beautiful Day stamp set by clicking on the SHOP ONLINE link at the top of the page.  You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to make fabulous backgrounds and embellishments with Brusho!

Walk on your WILD side day!

I’ts amazing how many crazy holidays are celebrated every day!!! Today is “Walk on your wild side day”!!!  So I decided to put some ink on my Fabulous Flamingo stamp set!  This is a 3-part stamp so the only challenge is lining each stamp up so the final image really looks 3-dimensional.  I had some success, but it would have been PERFECT if I had used the new Stampin’ Up! Stamparatus, which is both the perfect stamping surface AND the perfect way to align all your stamps!!!  Mine, sadly, is on order, but I will have it SOON to show you all it’s AWESOMENESS!  In the meantime, here’s my card!

Fabulous Flamingo, item#143758 $21.00 photopolymer

Dont’ the flamingos look GREAT???  A little strip of DSP at the bottom to look like a stream (from my scrap stash), a bit of green grass, and a sentiment from “A Little Wild” stamp set.  The paper looks a bit pink, but it is shimmery white IRL – my favorite stamping paper.  Oh, and a little masking going on as well.

So, challenging YOUR creative side, what can YOU put together to celebrate “Walk on your wild side day”???
