Intro to Project Life

I am so excited to introduce a class to you – Intro to Project Life – Scrapbooking in an afternoon. First of all, I will admit I am NOT a scrapbooker – WAAYYYYY too much time to create Just-that-perfect-page! And even the lure of quick scrapbooking with Project Life faded fast because, once again, toooooo much time (even with pocket pages) to create just-that-perfect-PROJECTLIFE-page! But, never fear the LIGHT has come ON! I have figured out the perfect WAY to do Project Life! …and I have put together a great class to introduce you to the MAGIC!  The class kit includes a 6″x8″ Project Life (PL) binder, 12 6″x8″ assorted PL pocket pages, One of two themed PL sets (stamp set, cards & accessories).  During the class, we will fill ALL 12 pages with cards, embellishments, and your photos.  There is plenty of room in the binder for more pages, if you want to add more later, and there will be plenty left over of the themed cards & accessories for that as well.  All supplies will be provided (coordinating color card stock, inkpads, markers, dies, adhesives) for use during class time.  The class will be held on Saturday, Sept. 5th, from Noon – 3pm at the Art Gallery of Fells Point (1716 Thames St., Baltimore, MD  21231), the cost is $80 per person, and anyone signing up for the class by August 25th will receive a FREE journaling pen!  The fine print: prepayment is required at signup.  No refunds for cancellations or missing the class – the kit and all class handouts will be provided to you after the class is held.  Message or email me to register for the class.  Payment can be sent via Paypal or I can email a Square invoice.  Registration will be confirmed when payment is completed.

#TBT Measure of a Life

imageI’m revisiting one of my fav vintage stamp sets, “Measure of a Life”.  I love the images from this set and the sentiment, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.  Eleanor Roosevelt”.  I embossed on vellum and inked both the front and the back.  Ink doesn’t dry as fast on the vellum and you can swirl it about with your paintbrush on one side and the inking on the other side stays where you put it!  The only downside is that the water curls up the edges, so you have to weigh it down under several books while it dries to get it flat again.  I’m “on the fence” with the ribbon – what do you think?image

Good things are going to happen!

My stamp of the month – “You’ve Got This”.  I think this is my favorite example so far!  A little fiddly with fussy cutting around the flower, but this is stamped on blackberry bliss card stock with versamark and embossed with clear.  Then brush on BLEACH inside the flower lines.  The paper bleaches to a light buff color which I then re-colored with blackberry bliss ink that was diluted with water for the flower and mossy meadow for the stem and leaves, also diluted.  So pretty IRL.  Shop for this stamp and supplies at www.mystampalooza.stampinup.net or message me to place an order for you!  Subscribe to my monthly newsletter for next month’s stamp of the month – card sketches, tips and techniques!Good things are going to happen card

For All Things Stamp Set

I love the stamp set “For All Things” (#135155 Clearmount $18) It is simple and watercolor-y and mostly, not just for Fall!  This card uses my Technique Quickie for the month – inking up your acrylic blocks for a quick background!  I’ve also used the new cotton paper for the banner.  It is sooooo thin!  If I hadn’t pleated the strip, the floral sprig would have shown through.  It was a bit tricky to stamp on – the Stazon in would have dried a little quicker then the Memento Black that I used.    I’ve got card sketches, techniques and featured stamps every month on The Stampin’ Nooz.  If you didn’t get your copy this month, sign up in the box to the right and you’ll be in the que for the July tips & techniques!

A Pack of Cards with COLOR!

I am constantly drawn by COLOR!  That is probably why I immediately found a happy place with Stampin’ Up!  All the colors MATCH, whether it is ribbon, card stock, ink or embellishments!  Card-making is a snap once you have decided on a design, as in this group of cards.  Changing the color of the cardstock, ribbon and changing up or even keeping the same sentiment is the fast track to a quick hostess gift or adding to your card stash.  For the details of this card, sign up for my monthly stamping how-to, Stampin’ Nooz!

#TBT I am

All-occasion card

“I Am” was a stamp set that was given to all attendees to the 2012 Stampin’ Up Convention, the first one (and only, so far) that I attended.  It was “oh so fabulous!” and just a bit overwhelming.  At any rate, I was inspired to make this carI am, Oh so Fabulous, Creative, a Star, Beautifuld, which combined the “I Am” stamp, elements from “Nature’s Walk”,Nature Walk, Bee, Plant, Bird, Birdhouse

and the “Dot Dot Dot background stamp.

Dots, Dot Background

All three stamps have been retired, and usually for #TBT I show some current products.  So, while you can’t create this particular card, there are current alternatives for some of the elements.  For instance, a different way to get the background dots is to use a stencil, and there is a great stencil in the “Build a Banner Simply Created Kit” in the annual catalog.  Build a Banner, Dots Stencil

The 2015 Occasions “mini” Catalog has butterfly thinlits and a great nature stamp to buy as a bundle for 15% off!  Substitute a “3D” butterfly for the bee.

Butterfly Thinlits, Butterfly

And try the latest “chalkboard” technique by stamping in black ink on white paper.  You can even use your watercolor markers to highlight some areas in color.

Friends Forever, Chalkboard, Markers

So use your vintage stamps or to try something new – message me to get your copy of the latest catalogs or order one of the selections above! #TBT I Am is “oh so fabulous” in more ways than one!!!

What’s my NEWSLETTER?

Oh I WILL have one, but what will my newsletter be NAMED?  That is my quandary.  I SWEAR by the end of this week, there will be a name.  I, of course, want a very CLEVER name, and my pea brain is not coming up with anything positive and clever.  Now I have thought of:

“You sNEWs you lose” (yuk)

“Stampa-NEWS-a” (ok, maybe)

“Everything Stampy” (hmmmm)

“Stampin Nooze” (so far #1)

…you see where this is going…

So any suggestions I can get from you blog-readers out there – FIRE AWAY!  Clearly I need HELP naming my Newsletter!

#TBT Stampin’ Up Wonderful Words Stampset

Right before Valentine’s Day, I received this card:
Love CardI received it from my Mom, who sends me a card every year (she is 94).  The REALLY GREAT  thing is that she made the card this year using the Stampin Up supplies that I have been giving her for the last several years!  This was her own design, too!  When I was there the previous weekend, she said she wanted to make some valentine cards, so I pulled out the white card stock, envelopes, a couple of different red stamp pads and her “box o’ stamps”. That was all – then, this in the mail!  I was so surprised and frankly THRILLED (can you say “mini-me”?).  LOL!

She used these vintage stamps:

Wonderful Words from 2008 annnnnnnndddddd…….. Happy Hearts from 2003!

The paper is a strip from the current catalog – the Brights Color Collection (which includes Real Red).

$21.95So Mom – you get a big W (WIN) for this card!  I’m sure the other recipients (she said she needed EIGHT), were just as thrilled!

To follow through with my theme of the week – Mom also receives a Paper Pumpkin kit every month, and it will be interesting to see what she has done with February when I see her this weekend!

If you want to freshen up YOUR vintage stamps – feel free to message me to purchase cardstock, inks, envelopes and embellishments!  Your card recipients will be thrilled too!

The 30 minute solution to monthly cards and projects

Yes, I’m talking about My Paper Pumpkin.  I just received this month’s kit and, once again, a totally cute, easy and fast set of cards.  Here’s what is in this month’s box:

MPP 15-02-image1  Fun stamps!  Card stock, already cut and scored for folding, 2 ink spots, Envelopes, and Felt letters to spell out “Thanks” for each card.  The letters are already cut and adhesive backed, so just peel them off and press on the card.  Use the instructions to make the cards as shown, or supplement with your own card stock and creative ideas for even more possibilities!

I have my own subscription – so much fun to see what comes in every box!  Easy enough to make in a half hour, if you stick to the sample.   I also send a subscriptionMPP 15-02-image3 to my Mom every month, and sometimes we make them together, and sometimes she makes them herself and keeps on hand for thank you’s, birthday cards, or just a thinking of you card.

Here’s a photo of one of the felt letters – so dimensional!

If you want your own surprise package of stamping goodness every month, send me a message and I’ll help you get set up.  You’ll need to be signed up by March 9th to get your March box.  BTW, your first box includes an acrylic block that will fit all the stamps you will get in Paper Pumpkin.  You can sign up for one month, 3 months, 6 months, or automatic payment each month (that’s what I do!).
